This step-by-step guide is designed to help you integrate ReadingWise into your school's Microsoft environment, so that your staff and learners can log in using their Microsoft accounts.
By following the instructions below, you'll ensure that your pupils and staff can efficiently access ReadingWise.
Check whether Single Sign-On is working
Visit our login page and click the ‘Sign in with Microsoft’ button.
If this works, then all is well. Not Working? Please follow the steps below.
Authenticate the use of third-party apps
You may need to authenticate the use of ReadingWise as a third-party app within your Microsoft admin area.
- Log into your Microsoft Entra admin center > Applications > Enterprise applications. If you don’t see the ReadingWise app in your list within 'All applications,' search for it in the search bar.
- Select the 'ReadingWise app' and check that the 'Application ID' and 'Object ID' have been completed.
- Select 'Permissions' with the 'Security section' of the ReadingWise app.
- Select the blue button titled 'Grant admin consent for (your school's name).'
- Sign in with your Microsoft account.
- Select 'Accept.'
- Refresh the page to get the latest permissions consented for the application.
You should now be able to log in using SSO, authenticating the use of SSO for anyone else using this domain.
ReadingWise Microsoft ID / Redirect URL
During these steps, you may be required to enter details relating to ReadingWise. If you are prompted to enter scopes or similar, then please add the following:
This is our Microsoft ID: AZURE_CLIENT_ID=2551ccdb-3425-407f-bf22-1bca3404c57f
This is a URL that is used for callbacks that we set in our ReadingWise application (redirect URL): https://app.readingwise.com/users/auth/microsoft_office365/callback
Error Message Trouble Shooting
The issue solved below is very rare, but worth exploring if you get an error.
Microsoft allows a username and an id to be two different emails. Most accounts use the same email address for both. But if you are having issues using SSO for ReadingWise, this is likely to be the cause.
Here's how to fix.
- Log in to ReadingWise via your normal method (not SSO).
- Go to Edit profile and check that your email is correct and is the same as your school email (and your Microsoft oid).

- Use “Connect with Microsoft” on your profile.

- After this connection is set up, use “Sign in with Microsoft” on the login page. SSO should now work.
