How to Request Word Lists
To get your word lists up and running, please follow these steps:
- Format your list: Create your word list in a format that's easy to copy and paste. We recommend using a Microsoft Word table, an Excel spreadsheet, or a Google Sheet.
- Capitalisation: Ensure your words are correctly capitalised as you'd like them to appear in the Vocab module.
- Submit your list:Email your completed list to our team at [email protected].
You can download our handy Word template to help you get started.
Naming Format for Word Lists
To make it easy for everyone to find wordlists, please follow this standard naming convention:
GEMS [SCHOOL ACRONYM], [YEAR GROUP], [SUBJECT], [TITLE]
So, an example name might be:
GEMS GFA, Year 8, Geography, Rainfall in Peru
Word List Terms
As part of your ReadingWise membership, each GEMS school can request up to 200 words per term.
Collaborate and Maximise Your Word Lists
We encourage you to collaborate with other GEMS schools to make the most of your word list allowance. By working together, you can:
- Cover more of the curriculum: Coordinate with other schools to create a wider variety of word lists that cover different subjects and topics.
- Avoid duplication: Prevent “wasting” words by creating very similar lists. By sharing resources, you can ensure a broader range of vocabulary is available to all students.
We aim to have your word lists live within four weeks of submission.
