Sharing our Successes
"I wanted to share with you one of our successes. We have a Yr 5 student, XXX, who was critically low in his scoring.
Yesterday his teacher tested him with our dept’s mandatory testing. He gained 42 words from his oral reading fluency test in one minute. He had refused to do the test at the beginning of the year and yesterday was very confident.
His teacher tells him to get onto ReadingWise every time he refuses to go to another subject such as art. Therefore, he’s had a real push with his vocab and phonemic knowledge through Zip. She said to me that he hadn’t hesitated, fluent and automatic with the words he read to her from a short passage. This confidence boost will help him so much next year.
