The ReadingWise Roald Dahl Pack
What is it?
25 interactive extracts from 10 of Roald Dahl's most loved stories. Learners will work through fun online activities, exploring 4 key comprehension strategies as they go. The resource is thoroughly engaging; each pupil can log in independently and so this is ideal for homework!
Which age range is the pack suitable for?
The pack is ideal for years 3 through to 7 (ages 8 - 12). It's organized in two stages, with built-in progression to meet the needs of pupils as they progress. Stage One provides shorter texts, and Stage Two becomes more complex with extended texts. The flexible nature of the pack means teachers can select books from either stage to match the needs of pupils in their class or group.
How do I use it?
You can use this fabulous resource in many ways:
- As a teacher-led whole class activity with the online part carried out using an interactive whiteboard;
- With groups of 10 learners working through the online activities individually (on PC, laptop or tablet) with assistant support;
- Alongside guided groups to reinforce comprehension strategies and develop independence and confidence when reading.

Assessment and Reporting
Quick and easy. Each pupil has their own login details, and their progress and engagement is tracked as they work with each story. As a teacher, you have a dashboard and can view useful information as shown in the picture below.
Each story has a test, quizzing the pupil on the story. Each test carries a mark out of 10 and aims to test key comprehension skills such as inference.
