Jane believes poetry is everyone’s mother tongue. She became a published poet at the age of 14, when she read her work on Radio 4’s Kaleidoscope programme. She also writes creative non-fiction and has a first in English Language and Creative Writing from the Open University in Scotland, which she obtained while home-educating her two children.
Having taught them to read and write – and not hate poetry – from in utero to A-levels, she began volunteering as a tutor of Community-based English for Speakers of Other Languages in Edinburgh’s South Asian women’s groups. She has also worked as a native speaker consultant on English language text books for Polish school children.
Jane is obsessed with words, forensic linguistics and dad jokes, and is passionate about working with ReadingWise, unlocking lifelong learning, books, stories and poetry for everyone.
