After studying Psychology and Criminology at Coventry University, Emily planned a short trip to Australia, a holiday that developed into 5 years living in Australia and then New Zealand, opening and managing restaurants in Melbourne, Brisbane and Wellington.
Emily’s most recent stint in the southern hemisphere was her time living in Wellington (New Zealand), running a busy inner city restaurant alongside volunteering with the New Zealand Red Cross, on their refugee resettlement programme. The rewards of volunteering with the Red Cross, on a programme that made a truly positive impact to the lives it touched, inspired Emily to move away from the hospitality industry, and into full time employment within the third sector.
Before joining ReadingWise, Emily worked with the Sussex MS Centre- an independent charity supporting people living with Multiple Sclerosis (MS). Emily organised and ran events, alongside managing the day to day operations of the Centre, working closely with the MS community to help to provide a safe, welcoming and inclusive space for those living with MS in and around Sussex.
Emily is delighted to now be a part of a company that will make a real difference to people’s lives and inspire children to unlock the magic that reading can bring.
